Finca Huixoc

Finca Huixoc was founded in the 1940s and is one of the oldest existing farms in Guatemala. They were the first producer partner of Los Volcanes, our exporting partners in Guatemala & Brazil. The farm went under a complete renovation in 2017-18, replanting millions of trees and building a new mill. There has been a concerning trend of producers selling their land in Huehuetenango to be redeveloped, being displaced for economic reasons, or worst of all, coercion from drug cartels operating on the Guatemala- Mexico border. We feel it is more important than ever to support the producers still making investments in Guatemala’s best known coffee region and continuing to grow coffees with the incredible sweetness and acidity that we find in Huehuetenango coffees. As the re-planted trees have matured we find the coffees from Huixoc are tasting brighter and sweeter every year. We also purchased two single varieties from Huixoc this year that we will be featuring this winter, and we love the contrast of tasting these coffees together.
